George Finishes Out WSMT Season With Eighth-Place Finish

This season has been a learning and building year for George Brunnhoelzl, III.  After taking time off from the Modified ranks over the past few years, GB III and his team returned looking for success.
Saturday Brunnhoelzl looked to close out the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour season with a strong finish.  After qualifying 11th, GB III wheeled his Modified up into the top 10 and settled in for an eighth-place finish.

“We set up for a real long run in practice,” said Brunnhoelzl.  “It took a long time for the car to come around during the race.  We had a tire kind of take off on me.  It screwed us up a little bit.  It wasn’t the way we wanted to end this, but it was better than a couple weeks ago.  We are going to try to regroup and see what we will do for next year.”

With the WSMT season concluded, GB III and his team will now focus on getting their car ready for the 2008 season.
“We struggled this year, but we kept the car in one piece,” explained Brunnhoelzl.  “Years ago when I was running the Modified there were four or five guys that were really fast and we were one of them. Over the years that I took off there are 10 or 12 guys that are fast.  Technology has come a long way and everybody is getting faster.  You see it in the times.  Taking those years off from the Modified haltered our experience with the Modifieds, so we are just playing catch up.

“We will work on it over the winter and get it back up where we should be.  We are going to change some equipment and come back next year strong.”
