GEORGE BRUNNHOELZL III RETURNS TO THE TOP-10 AT CARAWAY
Solid Run Gives GB III Something To Build Off Of
George Brunnhoelzl, III might be starting to shake that 2007 season bad luck off his back. The return to the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour has been a bit rough on the young driver, but Saturday’s ninth place finish helped take some of the edge off the frustration as he is hoping to build on the knowledge gained for better finishes this season.
“We were really good there for the first 75 laps,” said Brunnhoelzl. “We were just riding and riding, not trying to abuse the car. Right there after lap 75 I was following LW Miller. He was able to keep going forward but I couldn’t get a hold of the race track anymore. I am not quite sure what happened to the car yet. We have to get back home and look at it.
“We went from one extreme to the next. Last week when we were here the car was really tight. We worked on it during the week and did a bunch of stuff to it. We got it turning good, but then it start turning too good and the backend was coming around.”
Brunnhoelzl is focused on taking what they have learned for the first half of the run Saturday and apply that to the complete race when he returns to Caraway Speedway July 6th for the next event in the Whelen Southern Modified Tour.
“We will keep our heads up,” added Brunnhoelzl. “Find out what is going on, change something and go back at it again. We have a real fast 75 lap race car. We just need to get it to last for 150 laps and we will be all set.”
