GEORGE BRUNNHOELZL III ENDS UP SIXTH AT CARAWAY
Third Generation Driver Back On Track with Solid Run

The long summer stretch of off weekends is finally behind us and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour kicked off its first week in a seven race swing that will take them from Georgia to Virginia and around North Carolina as they wrap up the 2008 season.  George Brunnhoelzl III is looking at this as a second season.

He went to Caraway Speedway (NC) looking to get back on track after a DNF at the last race at Bowman Gray Stadium (NC).  He didn’t disappoint as he posted a solid sixth place finish in the 150-lap event.
“It was a good day for us,” said Brunnhoelzl.  “We qualified fifth and things were looking good.  I am not too good with the redraw and I pulled a 10 so we started 10th.  We got hung up a bit on the outside and I worked my way to the bottom and came back to finish sixth.  I have to thank Performance Technology and Jim Michaels for getting our motor back to us so quickly.   We had problems at Bowman Gray and they really helped us get a motor ready for the Carawayrace.”

Now sitting 12th in points, Brunnhoelzl will head to Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Georgia for the next event on August 30th.  The points are really tight as Brunnhoelzl is only 101 points out of fifth and only 17 out of ninth.  A new venue does leave a few questions, like where to go as far as a set up is concerned?

“I don’t know how to prep for a track like Lanier,” said Brunnhoelzl. “We are going to go there and take a stab and it and see how things work out. If things don’t work out in practice we will go back to our base line set up. We are looking forward to it.”
George Brunnhoelzl III was sixth at Caraway.
