Brunnhoelzl Grabs Fifth and Ninth after Sliding on His Helmet in Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge
2009 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Champion, George Brunnhoelzl III, stepped away from his Modified this past weekend to compete in an altogether different type of racing vehicle. Brunnhoelzl traveled to Lake Placid, New York, to take part in the Fifth Annual Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge.
“It was a fun weekend,” said Brunnhoelzl. “I got a chance to do something that most people can’t say they’ve ever done and definitely had a big learning curve.”
After have some difficulty off the starting block, Brunnhoelzl rallied back and qualified 10th before bringing home fifth and a ninth place finishes.
“It didn’t start off so well for me,” commented Brunnhoelzl. “I kind of flipped it over a couple times and slid down on my helmet a little bit, but it was still a lot of fun when we got the hang of it and started gaining.”
“It was a great race to be a part of though,” said Brunnhoelzl. “Racing with several other champions who were a little bit out of there element too was a lot of fun and I’m glad we were able to be a part of it.”
