Brunnhoelzl Lengthens WSMT Point Lead With Second at Caraway
GBIII Keeps Up Title Form

Seven races into the 2011 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour season, George Brunnhoelzl entered race number-eight with a sizeable lead in the Tour's championship standings.  All he did at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, North Carolina on Friday, July 1st was further that point advantage with a second-place finish behind LW Miller and ahead of his new Ideal Racing teammate Andy Seuss in third.
Brunnhoelzl battled with Miller for the win later in the race, but did not have enough to get back into Caraway's victory lane - the place he was at the end of the season-opening event at the .455-mile track back in March.

"Where I was good, I would make up some time on him, but he would have a better run coming off," said Brunnhoelzl of Miller.  "They had a good run and hat’s off to those gus.  Ideal Racing...another two-three finish, so another amazing day for the guys at Ideal Racing.

Brunnhoelzl had one last shot at Miller on a green-white-checkered restart, but there just wasn't enough grip in Brunnhoelzl's groove for him to take the checkered flag first.

"Late in the race, everybody’s tires are worn and everybody wants all they can get.  NASCAR has us coming to the green on the straightaway, which is a good thing because if it was back further, everyone would be spinning their tires and spun out.  I applaud NASCAR for moving the restart point to the straighttaway.  It was a good drag race, but we both spun our tires."

The next race for Brunnhoelzl and the Ideal Racing #09 team comes on Saturday, August 6th at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC
